Great product but room for improvement

I ordered the Topper Tent Mid-Size Tall V2 for my tacoma that has a slightly bumped up camper shell. It's great with the platform setup because my partner (6'4) and I can both sleep comfortably and his feet can hang off the end a bit making it more roomy for both of us. It's also great because you have space to put your shoes on the tailgate before you hop outside. The material is also super durable and surprisingly more insulated than I thought it would be. The mesh bug net feature is also really great as you can open all the windows in your camper for good airflow without having to worry about bugs (this was the reason I found Topper Tent to begin with).

However, there are a few areas for improvement that have been frustrating after using the tent a few times:

- It is very difficult to velcro the doors when inside of the camper. It seems like the tent was designed from the outside, not considering how easy it would be to zip & velcro the door shut once you are actually inside the camper - especially the middle of the night when you have to go pee. I would MUCH prefer a zipper on the bottom than the velcro, otherwise the placement of the velcro should be reversed so you can close the door from the inside. That being said, since there are 2 doors (mesh & solid) it can also be tricky to open/close them both when going in & out. It would be nice to somehow have the mesh door attached to the solid one so you only have to unzip 1 when going in and out, with an option to roll up the solid door when you only want the mesh. Just takes a lot of time in the middle of the night and you really have to fiddle with the velcro to make sure that all the gaps are closed at the bottom where it meets the tailgate.

- I wish the door was taller. Looks like this might just be a flaw with the taller model because looking at the images for the standard height, it doesn't seem to be an issue. However, I see in the website images of the Topper Tent Mid-Size Tall V2, I'm seeing the same problem that I have; There is about 10 inches of space from the top of the door to the top of the shell. I think the door needs to also be taller for the taller model because you really have to duck your head in order to get in & out of the door, especially with a platform setup.

All in all, a really great product with a few flaws that are a bit of a bummer for the price it costed but I'll learn to live with it. Hopefully these are taken as constructive criticism and fixed in future productions!

The design has changed from a year ago. Our at least from the very few YouTube video there are. It didn't have magnets to secure to the tailgate, but had two straps and the magnets were replaced with woven straps width clips. It definitely needs to be a carpeted shell to stick. I argued with for days on getting a glue that would work on sew on velcro so the topper was secured as my shell is not carpeted. All that and I am still very happy. Fits my 02 dakota with the high top shell.
